At St Ann’s Tennis, WhatsApp is an essential tool for staying connected. It allows us to share updates, arrange matches, and communicate quickly with members. We’re fortunate to have such a considerate community, and we’ve always appreciated your respectful and sensible use of the platform.
To help keep things running smoothly, we’ve now put together a simple WhatsApp policy. We encourage all members to take a moment to read it below. Many thanks to our Welfare Officer, Joss Albert, for helping us draft it.
Key Reminders for Using WhatsApp at St Ann’s
Use “Reply Privately”
One of the most underused but powerful features of WhatsApp is Reply Privately.
If you’re responding to a group message, consider messaging the person directly rather than replying in the group — especially when it’s not relevant to everyone.
Respect WhatsApp-Free Members
Not everyone chooses to use WhatsApp. Please make sure players and coaches who aren’t on WhatsApp are kept informed through other channels.

Be Respectful
- Treat all members with courtesy and kindness.
- Disagreements are natural — handle them constructively and politely.
- No offensive language, personal attacks, or inappropriate jokes.
- Avoid comments that could reflect badly on other clubs or individuals.
Keep Messages Relevant
- Post only messages related to tennis activities (e.g. match availability, club updates, arranging games).
- Avoid off-topic chatter, memes, or excessive posts.
- Want to continue a conversation? Use Message Privately.
No Promotions
- Please do not use any club WhatsApp group to promote businesses, campaigns, or events not related to the club.
Think Before You Post
- Ask yourself: Is this useful to most people in the group?
- Avoid posting too frequently or late at night — unless urgent.
Safeguarding Comes First
- Follow the club’s safeguarding policies at all times.
- If you see something that concerns you, contact a group admin or our Welfare Officer, Joss Albert.
