Congratulations Jimmy Smith on winning the Tennis Opened Up prize at the LTA Tennis Sussex Awards ceremony at the American Express Community Stadium, Brighton, last night.
This award is a recognition of Jimmy’s work over many years in the area of disability tennis.
Jimmy explains: “St Ann’s Tennis has partnered with Grace Eyre & Tennis Sussex to deliver weekly adult inclusive sessions on Fridays 10-1am. These classes have been running all year round for over 2 years.”
Jimmy also runs the long-running Amazeballs Inclusive Junior Tennis classes at Queens Park Tennis Club, as well as other tennis outreach work in Brighton & Hove.
“The Grace Eyre group at St Ann’s has been running for three years. It is focused on adults disability tennis, and it has a core of regular players. They play a very decent standard of tennis, and their weekly sessions have a positive impact on their lives. Big thanks to Jimmy, and to coach Ben, for their important work with this group,” says Conrad Brunner, St Ann’s Tennis director.

Jimmy also won the LTA National Development Coach Of The Year in 2022.
