St Ann’s Tennis is hosting three Super8 Singles tournaments for men and women next month.
On Saturday 4 March, 1pm, there will be two mens intermediate Super8 singles tournaments, played simultaneously. We will run an Intermediate+ tournament (8 players max) on courts 5-8, AND an intermediate tournament on courts 1-4 (8 players max). Take yourn pick. The intermediate+ is broadly aimed at senior team players.
For both men’s intermediate tournaments, please Book here
On Saturday 18 March, 1pm, we will host a Women’s Intermediate Super8 singles tournament on courts 1-4, max 8 players. There is the option to expand this tournament if there is enough interest.
All tournaments will follow a Compass format, using Fast4 scoring. Each player will play three best-of-3 set Fast4 matches.
Fast4 Matches are played as the best of two (2) short sets, first to four (4) games). So scores will be 4-0. 4-1, 4-2 etc. If the score is 3-3, then a 7 point tie breaker is played to decide the set. If the score reaches one set all (1-1), a 10 point match tie-breaker decides the winner. You change ends the same as regular sets, so after 1st, 3rd, 5th game etc. A compass draw is a tennis tournament draw that is divided up into 8 brackets, each bracket representing a point on a compass (i.e., North, South, South-East, South-West, etc.). When a pair loses a match they simply move into a new bracket.
