Improvers! You are invited to join us at St Ann’s Tennis for a fun competition designed just for you: a Mixed American Improver Tournament on Saturday 19 March, 2pm-5pm.

This tournament will be for 6-8 mixed pairs, for ‘Improvers’ only. Entry is £10.00 per player. No membership required.

Every player enters individually. The ‘American’ format means that you switch partner after every set. The winning player will be the one who wins the most games (with a variety of different partners) over the course of the tournament. There will be prizes for best female player and best male player.

A tennis tournament at St Ann’s is quite a commitment! Please do not enter if you cannot be there promptly at the start, and play right till the end. Make sure you bring all the stuff (water, snacks, etc) you need. We’ll provide fresh tennis balls for you, and guide you through the rules, the scoring and the American tournament format. Don’t worry – it’s not too complicated.

“We’re actively looking for people who’ve never played a tennis tournament in their lives,” says tournament host Conrad Brunner.

“The aim is to provide a fun, no-pressure tennis experience in which our small army of improvers can test their skills, and discover the joy of competitive doubles action in a friendly atmosphere. There will be prizes for the winners, but it’s the taking part that counts. Don’t be shy – give it a go!”
