In response to feedback from St Ann’s Tennis members (and potential members), we have revised court booking regulations. Full adult Club members can now book all eight tennis courts free of charge.
Members retain priority booking on Courts 1-4 (North Side/Nizells Ave) – with booking up to seven days in advance – and can book up to four days in advance on courts 5-8.
Pay & Play visitors get seven-day priority booking on courts 5-8 (South Side) and four days on courts 1-4.
“We’ve listened to what players have said and changed our set up accordingly,” says Conrad Brunner of St Ann’s Tennis.
“Priority booking is a key value of membership, allowing players to book their courts comfortably in advance. Now members can do so for all eight tennis courts at St Ann’s Well Gardens.
“Pay & Play access is not a ‘nice to have’; it’s a key requirement from the council – and rightly so. It’s very important that the public have proper access to court time – this is the duty of a public tennis facility – and other Parks Clubs in the city follow the same format. Casual players tend to be the silent majority in discussions about court usage and our new terms ensure that casual players have proper access while also serving the interest of St Ann’s Tennis members. Courts 1-4 remain the “Club courts” in terms of priority booking and will also be the courts used for coaching and competitions.
Members | Pay & Play | |
Courts 1-4 (Nizells Ave) | 7-day priority booking | 4-day booking |
Courts 5-8 (south end) | 4-day booking | 7-day priority booking |

Upkeep and maintenance
St Ann’s Tennis CIC has invested a significant amount of time and money in making sure that all eight courts are kept in excellent condition year-round. A dedicated court cleaner has been hired to sweep the courts and remove debris. Members and visitors are also encouraged to use the broom on court (!) to sweep and clear the courts during Autumn.
Further improvements for St Ann’s Tennis are on their way:
- Pin code gate access
- Cutting back of outgrowth on the north side (Nizells Avenue) and fence fixed
- New benches and coat hooks
- Launch of weekly Club sessions
